Royales are easier in backside and on slanted rails, people who can backside handrails should know that. Flat curvy rails are hard to do royales on, especially frontside royales. I think Renny done better than I could have done with a royale on that rail.
Hahaha, since when is a backside royale on a vert rail easier than a royale on a 18" high horizontal rail? Obviously the style is going to be more prominent on a vert, but backside is by no means easier

I must be wierd then, I always found backside royales so much easier, and if i was gonna try a backside on a vert I would definatley do a royale, but everyone's different I suppose.

Slidey, do you jump front-foot first? If so, that could be why you find backside royales easier. Having said that, have you hit that grind on a handrail yet?
For hip hieght rails and vert rails I jump front foot first, on medium rails I usually jump back foot first and on really low rails I jump front foot first. And no, I'm still looking for a short enough vert rail to try a backside royale on (so yeah I don't have any experience) my bad. XP
when i jump front foot first, it keeps going without the rest of me :( it's funny to watch, cuz no matter how many times i try, i end up on the ground. when i'm teaching people to soap they're like "i can't do it" and i'm like it's ok, watch this and i grind like that...and they're like "wow...I don't feel so bad anymore"...i don't know why i wanted to share that...but i did...
also, on my above comment, by front foot first, for somereason, i meant if i lead with my left foot (because i lead with my right usually) i don't know why i said "front foot first" wtf was i thinkin.
Now that i have progressed more in my soaping, my eyes are now a bit more open. I still think the picture is sick, but that royale is indeed kinda weak
