Surface Guide
Jun 5, 2008 by kevinkrg6

Thought I'd make a little guide for all the newbies including me :).

Metal - The best surface - not extremely fast, but still fast enough. Delivers the best grind. Try to stay away from rusted metal.

Concrete sidewalks, ledges, etc - Can deliver a good grind if the edge is smooth. If it is worn, chipped away at, or rough, I wouldn't recommend grinding it, because you wont, you'll just stop right when you hit it.

Plastic - BE CAREFUL! Plastic is the fastest material. NO WAX NEEDED HERE! If it's steep I wouldn't try it, but most commonly your not going to find steep plastic ledges around anyway, right?

Wood - can really only be grinded on if it is waxed. Take some candle wax or a bar of soap and wax the wood first. If the wood is finished you won't need to wax it. Makes a good rail when waxed.

That's It. Hope I helped.
